A group of angry Shaw residents from ANC Alex Padro’s district have drafted Shaw community activist and COPE Red Hats’s anti-drug/crime leader Mary Sutherland to run for the Advisory Neighborhood Commission 6E-01 seat. The election will be held on November 6th and although Padro, has beaten Sutherland in the past, this outcome may be diffeernent. Padro’s constituients are tired of the vagrants, littering, drinking, selling drugs, robbing and hangingout in his ditrict in the 1500 Bock of 7th Street. NW. “We want to be able to walk to the Shaw subway without being harassed and robbed by disrepectable and out of control youth’s who hangout out at the subway stop daily. I am tired of the shootings and drug dealing at the subway stop and on 7th Street. Padro had years to correct this and he ignored the community.” said Shaw resident Martha.  

“Padro only care’s about Padro and what he can get for himself as a commissioner and we want him out of office this time,” said Mr. Thompson.

ANC residents inside and outside of ANC 2-C Chairman Alex Padro ANC district are threatening to file a complaint with the DC Board of Elections and Campaign Finance Office and run an ANC candidate against him in the November 6th ANC election. Padro allegedly is steering ANC funding to his friends community organizations in the ANC 2-C boundaries. Padro allegedly has directed funding from Jefferson Apartment Group paid to Shaw Main Streets, to include funding for Friends of Watha T. Daniel Library, headed by his live in lover Pleasant Man a DC Government Homeland Security employee. Pado was investigated by the DC Office of Campaign Finance and Ethics in 2008 for voting on ANC projects and pocketing cash from develops for Shaw Main Streets which receives public and private funds – Padro pay’s himself a hefty salary as the executive director.

Two R Street Neighbors in the 500 Block approached former ANC Commissioner Mahdi Leroy L. Thorpe, Jr., to complain about current ANC Commissioner Kevin Chapples fraudulent behavior on July 14th, the same day Thorpe held his Annual COPE Awards Block Party in the 1700 Block of 5th Street, NW. “Two Black woman approached me yesterday and this morning complaining about how they refused to sign ANC Commissioner Kevin Chapple’s ANC petition to get on the November 2012 ballot for ANC 6E-02. The women asked Chapple was he aware of my good work in Shaw and Chapple responded he was unaware of me. They further complained that Chapple said he worked with the police and was a family man., It’s another sad situation for a lazy and sneaky ANC Commissioner that is never visible until election time, doe’s nothing regarding the need for public safety and runs negative campaigns and avoids communicating with constituents. Chapple to my knowledge has no wife, girlfriend nor children. He is certainly aware of me as his ANC opponent past and present, ” said Thorpe.

A  man was described as a local drunk, was stabbed in the neck today with a tool in front of the laundromat located in the 1500 block of 7th Street, NW. The man stabbed was involved in a verbal altercation while armed with a bat before the fight and stabbing occurred. The area of the stabbing is in ANC Kevin Chapple’s area were drunks, drug addicts and drug dealing occurs on a daily basis.

Shaw’s former ANC Commissioner and Red Hat’s crime fighter Mahdi Leroy J. Thorpe, Jr., received a official Mayor’s Greetings Citation today at the COPE Block Party while 100 Shaw residents greeted and cheered Mayor Gray and Ward 2 Councilman Jack Evans while they addressed the crowd. “I was very happy to see my friend Mayor Gray and many of his department heads at my Annual COPE Awards Block Party. Ward 2 Councilman Jack Evans received a very good response from the crowd when he spoke. Tony Cheng also arrived at the COPE block party with some really good food from his restaurant. I had a ball presenting awards to the Third District Police and Asst. Police Chief Diane Groomes and free bikes to the community. My good friends Babara Kahlow from Foggy Bottom, Commissioner Anthony Muhammad from Ward 8 and Beth Solomon the publisher of the Georgetown Dish also stopped by. Chief Cathy Lanier and At-Large Councilman Vincent Orange arrived late near the end of the block party,” said Thorpe.

COPE The Shaw historic volunteer crime fighting patrol group identified by their baseball red hat’s, was making it’s round’s at 7th & O NW tonight when it ran into the Third District Police on site at the City Market at O development project. ” Around 9:08 PM tonight the Third District Police Vice Unit was out and had to open a section of the fence at 8th & O to locate a gun that a youth had tossed unto City Market at O,” said COPE Red Hat’s Mahdi Leroy J. Thorpe, Jr.

Shaw ANC Commisioner Alexander M. Padro, a Shaw ANC commissioner that votes on community development projects at the ANC Meetings and receives thousands of dollars from local developers and the city to help businesses in Shaw is under scrutiny from the public. Many residents believe that Padro is breaking the law by earning over $60,000.00 dollars a year as the paid executicve directoer for Shaw Main Streets while receiving city funds and developement money post marked for the community. However, Padro, has been accused of voting on econominc development projects in his single member district and receiving money from developers doing business in his single member district and appearing at ANC Meetinigs for his support.

Padro allegedly has directed the Jefferson Apartments Group to give money to Friends of Watha T. Daniels while his live in companion Pleasnat Mann heads the Friends of Watha T. Daniels Library.

Padro has directed $3000.00 of public funds from the ANC to be paid to his friends of Bundy Dog Park – their role is to clean-up dog feces. Get this, Padro reduced funding for a local Shaw Ministry Organization wanting to send local poor kids to a summer camp.

Just take a look at the 9th Street and 7th Street business cooridor’s that badly needs facade improvement, why is not Padro using ANC funds, city government funds and private funds to aid the community and businesses or come out his pocket to fix up his falling apartment home in the 1500 Block of 8th Stret, NW? Is he allegedly spendng the money on more surgery to remian thin?

The public suspects that Padro used ANC funds to fund a local friend Mad Man to develop a website to keep a former commissioner out the ANC race this year in order for Padro to remain Chairman of the ANC. This Mad Man friend of Padro and Kevin Chapple he and Kevin Chapple was investigated by the Office Of Campaign, Finance & Ethics and order to cease with ANC Commisisoner Kevin Chapple’s former “ANC 2C02 & You,” website and and newsletter or be fined $3,000.00 as well. This action resulted from a letter of complaint from former ANC Commisisoner Mahdi Leroy J. Thorpe, Jr. ANC Commisisoner Kevin Chapple and the Mad Man had incorporated the website and newsletter for profit and it included local advertisement from local ANC real estate residents and friends of Mad Man and Kevin Chaplle who still live on P Street and who had made financl contributions to use Chapple’s ANC position for financial benefit for for Mad Man, Kevin Chapple and his P Street real estate agents pal’s. Hey! No wonder why Padro, Chapple and the Mad Man and the real estate agent friend’s don’t want Thorpe in the ANC race – he know’s too much and won’t pay to play.

A Shaw neighbor living at 457 Q Street, NW allegedly hangs herself inside her home today on Tuesday. These reports are unconfirmed until the DC Metropolitan Police Department confirms this death. ANC Commissioner Kevin Chapple was missing from the scene of death in his single member district while many neighbors tried to get as close as possible to the police line to inquire about the incident.

Rachelle Nigro has ignored the growing drug and gang problem in ANC Comissioner’s Kevin Chapple current 5th & O area where she is running for the ANC for that area in the November ANC electons. ANC Kevin Chapple, a lazy and ineffective ANC Comissioner did not want to represent 2nd & Northwest Cooperative Apartments located at 5th & O, so he decided to dump them in a secret ANC Meeting without public input. Kevin Chapple is running for the ANC position in the upcoming November ANC election.

Rachelle Nigro has complained to the police about the 6th & N Park alleged gang and drug activity while simuletaneoulsy blasting police officials and police officers at the request of the same alleged drug dealers and gang members complaining to her about police harassment.
